Founded in 2010 by Marco Marzuoli and later joined by Alessandro Sergente, 'Luna' is the third official release by How To Cure Our Soul, an audio-visual duo based in the Abruzzo region of Italy. With both members being fine art graduates, How To Cure Our Soul intend to explore the correlation between sound and vision. Through an intensive process working with digital and analogue instrumentation, video and photography, the artists aim to evoke a reflective space of philosophy, landscapes (natural and human) and communication.
The three tracks of 'Luna', a compositional triptych created through the use electric guitars, sampling effects pedals and tape manipulation presents a beautiful sound map of the night sky. Sinuous, textured drones interact with slow moving variations, short fragmented motifs and subdued harmonies to create a vibrant fresco for lunar landscapes.
These soundscapes are an intuitive narrative with sonic insights for an exquisite invitation to deep listening. The organic, imaginative and shimmering quality of the music makes 'Luna' an evocative and emotional sound journey.

Even if he says otherwise, Ian Hawgood is super prolific and incredibly talented in not only his own releases, but in collaborations and with the heart & soul put into the labels he's run over the years.
Saying all that, this is a more recent favorite release of Ian's: peaceful, deceivingly simple (yet not!) piano works that is personal, elegant and graceful in its warmth and presentation. Plus it's for a wonderful cause. Get it!! Joe Borreson
